Thet Zin et Sein Win Maung, deux journalistes travaillant pour l'hebdomadaire Myanmar Nation, ont été arrêtés le 15 février 2008. On pense qu'ils sont détenus à la prison d'Insein à Yangon (ex-Rangoon).
Dans la soirée du 15 février, une huitaine de policiers et de membres des services de renseignements ont perquisitionné pendant quatre heures les locaux de Myanmar Nation à Yangon. Thet Zin et Sein Win Maung, respectivement rédacteur en chef et chef de bureau de ce journal, ont été arrêtés à l'issue de cette descente. Les policiers ont saisi une copie de ce qui semble être un rapport sur la violente répression des manifestations pacifiques de septembre 2007 rédigé par le rapporteur spécial des Nations unies sur la situation des droits de l'homme au Myanmar.Ils ont également saisi les téléphones portables des deux hommes, des poèmes écrits à la main par Sein Win Maung, un ouvrage relatif au fédéralisme dont l'auteur est un ancien dirigeant associatif de la minorité chan, et des CD-ROM contenant des images filmées des manifestations de septembre.

Thet Zin and Sein Win Maung, both journalists working for the weekly journal ‘Myanmar Nation’, were arrested on 15 February 2008. It is believed they are being held in Yangon’s Insein Prison.
About eight policemen and intelligence officials conducted a four-hour search of the ‘Myanmar Nation’ office in Yangon on the evening of 15 February 2008.Thet Zin and Sein Win Maung, respectively the chief editor and the office manager at the publication, were arrested at the end of the raid. The police confiscated a copy of what is believed to be a report onthe violent crackdown on peaceful protesters in September 2007 written by the UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Myanmar. They also seized the two men’s mobile phones, hand-written poems by Sein Win Maung, a book on federalism by a veteran leader of the Shan ethnic group, and some video CDs containing images of the September protests.
